Visa information
1. Visa-exempt foreign nationals
Visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to, or transit through a Canadian airport, need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Visa-exempt travellers do not need an eTA when entering Canada by land (e.g. car or bus) or sea (e.g. cruise ship). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.

With regards to student visas, should a visa be required for entry into Canada, Students should apply through a Canadian embassy close to their residence. As it relates to returning back into the United States on their student visa, in addition to their valid student visas, they will need the following:
• A SEVIS Form I-20, endorsed for travel and signed by their DSO
• A current passport valid for at least six months after the date of re-entry
Students should consult their Designated School Official (DSO) prior to traveling. The DSO generally works in the International Student Office. They must have a current SEVIS Form I-20 endorsed for travel and their DSO needs to be able to verify that their SEVIS record is accurate and up-to-date.

3. Letters of invitation for visa application
